Hi, I’m Michael Sutter.

Michael Sutter is a graphic designer based in Boston with a focus on editorial systems, brand identity, and packaging. He believes good design should feel inevitable — the kind that earns its choices and doesn't need to explain itself. Currently finishing his BSD at Arizona State University, he's looking for opportunities where intention and craft actually matter.

Work With ME

My Approach

Design should feel like the only possible answer. Michael's process starts with the frame — understanding what a piece needs to argue, and then finding the most honest way to make that argument. Restraint isn't a style choice; it's a discipline. Every decision stays until it can't justify itself.

Honest before clever

The frame comes first. Before any aesthetic decision gets made, the work needs to know what it's arguing — and why that argument is worth making. Clarity isn't a constraint; it's the whole point.

Built to hold

Good design doesn't fall apart when you look closer. Every system, every detail, every choice stays in until it can justify itself — at full size, at thumbnail, in print, on screen. The goal is work that holds up under pressure, not just under ideal conditions
